The new ROC Aventus in Apeldoorn with his 42.000 m2 has a treasure of cutting edge designs from Dutch designers: Makkink&Bey,Remy &Veenhuizen and bureau Tjep. They designed six reception areas. The identity of the spaces are translated from the function and character of six different departments: Technique, Horeca-Tourism-Recreation (HTR), Healthcare-CivilService-Welness, Autotechnics, Education and Economics. Furniture, floors and textiles are especially made for these projects.
Remy&Veenhuizen designed the reception area of the Autotechnics department. The keywords they used were: human sizes, contact and transparancy. The points that give character to the spave are amongst others: a transparant welding curtain which is used for the walls of the conversation area, a floor made out of car tyres which reminds you of a parking place, another floor that consist of a custom made printed carpet where information is shown in a sculptural way and furniture shaped like vehicles.
